Bilateral Educator Exchange

Heather and I hosted an international teacher from Uruguay through the Bilateral Educator Exchange for nearly two weeks in late January and early February. Tamara stayed at our home and experienced our life, our community, and our school.

During the first weekend, we gave her a tour of our community, had a nice dinner at a local restaurant, attended church, and went to a Purdue vs IU women’s basketball game at Mackey Arena!

Tamara enjoyed taking a tour of our elementary, middle school, and high school facilities.

Tamara had many opportunities to give presentations in a variety of classes and engage with students.

Heather and Tamara were able to connect with other educators in the exchange from Indiana, Uruguay, and Brazil. They enjoyed a nice dinner in Indianapolis, attended an Indy Fuel hockey game, and were able to tour Downtown Indianapolis.

We enjoyed an afternoon visiting the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library.

Heather was able to coordinate a small field trip for about 30 students to tour Indiana University Kokomo and connect with the language arts professors there.

Nearly 30 students enjoyed a delicious lunch at a local Mexican restaurant, The Jungle.
