Season 1 Episode 4 | The Great Outdoors

Sharing Life, Insights & Stories |Season 1 Episode 4 – The Great Outdoors

We are in the beginning of Spring and we are looking forward to getting outside again to enjoy nature.  A couple years ago we moved to the family farm where we enjoy a 140 acre property with horses, goats, chickens, cows and a dog.  We also enjoy nature with plenty of woods, fields, a river running around the property and a creek cutting through the farm.  Since moving to the property, I have determined to connect our kids with nature and the outdoors.

Children today, unfortunately spend an average of 7.5 hours per day in front of a screen. This means that children are getting outside less, and as a result are missing critical experiences in nature or around wildlife.  I believe hunting and fishing provide engaging, hands-on instruction in the art of being an outdoorsman.

I believe the most valuable part of any activity is sharing it with others, so bonding with family and friends is central to every hunting and fishing experience. After our experience, a time of reflection and sharing begins the transformation of hunting and fishing from an activity to a tradition.

We have some traditions in our family. Fishing in the spring and hunting in the fall!
